Seattle here we come!

June 13, 2008 – 1:05 am

I’ll be getting into town tomorrow at around 2:30PM and will hope to see everyone at the Thingamajiggr event on Friday night.  Can’t wait to see all the Silverlighters out there.  Hopefully we are able to share a bunch of good information all weekend.  I will try and post Silverlight related info for the weekend here as it comes in.  If you have something to share please email me at silverlightdevcamp@live.com and i’ll post it connection willing :).

Logo Winner - Ivana Tilca!

June 13, 2008 – 12:17 am

By a landslide Ivana Tilca’s SilverlightDevCampSeattle logo took home the win.  I’ll be rebranding the website now with the logo and will continue to pass it along as the official SilverlightDevCampSeattle logo, until of course we have another challenge!

Congrats Ivana!

Vote for your Favorite Logo

June 2, 2008 – 1:37 pm

There are four entries to the Logo Contest which can be found here: http://www.brockett.net/silverlightdevcampseattle/?page_id=3

Once a winner is chosen I will rebrand the site and use the asset on the various properties, facebook, twitter etc. Because of the fold in with BarCampSeattle these won’t be made available on schwag. I will however turn over the entries for the next SilverlightDevCampSeattle as the incumbent entries.

Please VOTE over on the sidebar for your favorite.

Voting ends June 11, 2008 at 11:59PM PST.

“BCSwaPoSC” - Adam Kinney

May 27, 2008 – 12:32 pm

Announcing “BarCamp Seattle with a possibility of Silverlight content” - BCSwaPoSC. Adam Kinney just posted about our merging with BarCamp and I think it right to point out that Silverlight content at Bar Camp is the plan, there is no “special considerations” given due to the open nature of BarCamp. Something I completely agree with. That said I’m hoping we can have some great Silverlight sessions posted to the BarCamp schedule and we can help inform a wider audience.

Hope to see you all there….
Kurt

One Big Community

May 25, 2008 – 3:27 pm

Back when I kicked this off in April I was focused on setting our date then working on venues and volunteers. After a few days I had been contacted by a few folks and we started looking into location and sponsors. By that time we had a few attendees and looking to have a strong event.

Soon after the word spread I was contacted by Tara Brown who was in the process of planning barcamp seattle ON THE SAME WEEKEND! After speaking to hear and mulling over options we decided to fold in our efforts and help promote barcamp seattle as an event where Silverlighters could gather to share knowledge.

To keep a standalone event alive I was going to host “Silvernight” Friday night as a kick off to the events. I was then contacted through Tara by the folks over at thingamajiggr. The group from Waggle Labs teamed up with O’Reilly Radar to host a benefit for 911 Media Arts Center that same Friday night.

When all was said and done I felt the best thing to do would be to host SilverlightDevCamp as a supporting promoter of the two events already in the works. I was able to secure sponsorship for both events from IdentityMine (my current employer) and will continue to help promote and coordinate where needed with both events.

Thanks all for your support of the community and can’t wait to see everyone on starting Friday Night, June 13th.

Final Logo Contest Entries Received

May 24, 2008 – 7:21 pm

We ended up with four entries for SilverlightDevCampSeattle logos. You can check out the final two entries over on the updated Logo Site here (link).

I will let voting go on until 11:59PM Sunday June 1. At that time I’ll take the winner and update the site with proper branding in the header and in other areas of the site including Upcoming, Facebook and Twitter.

I’m soon going to post are collaboration with BarCampSeattle and thus there won’t be seperate T-Shirts made for this event. Who knows though if we do a SilverlightDevCampSeattle 2 I’ll be sure to include these entries for that event as well.

Thanks all for your enthusiasm and willingness to participate.

New Logos and Attendees

April 28, 2008 – 9:10 pm

Just checking in with the latest.  We have two new logo entries that you can check out on the logo contest page here: http://www.brockett.net/silverlightdevcampseattle/?page_id=3

Also on Upcoming we’re up to 10 people.  Let’s fire up those blogs and help drive awareness.  Next step is to secure a location.  To do that we’ll probably need some $ so please email me if you have any potential sponsors in mind.

I’d like if at all possible to keep this in downtown Seattle somewhere to allow for a centralized event.  Thanks all.

SilverlightDevCamp coming to Seattle

April 22, 2008 – 1:58 pm

Get your Visual Studio 2008 and Expression Blend 2.5 March/April/May/June installs all squared away because come June 13th you want to be ready to rock for SilverlightDevCampSeattle!

We’ve set the date and gotten some interweb logistics setup and now it’s up to YOU as the community to help make this event rock. In BarCamp style this event is for you, by you. I’m here to help keep all our ducks in a row but it’s up to the attendees to make great sessions and up to hopefully some willing sponsors to help grease the wheels.

Email us at silverlightdevcamp@live.com if you’d like to help out and be sure to sign up on upcoming, participate on barcamp and most importantly bust out MSPaint and Expression Blend and do us up a proper SilverlightDevCamp Seattle Logo.
